U.S. Soldiers assigned to 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment conducted platoon-level mounted and dismounted live-fire training during Operation Warhorse Surge at Bemowo Piskie Training Area, Poland, from Jan. 18–Feb. 6, 2026. The operation integrated M1A2 Abrams tanks, M2A3 Bradley Fighting Vehicles, and dismounted infantry to rehearse combined-arms maneuver, breaching, and trench clearance in harsh winter conditions. Training emphasized communication, lethality, and synchronization between mounted and dismounted elements while operating in snow-covered terrain and below-freezing temperatures, reinforcing the battalion’s readiness to secure key terrain in support of NATO allied forces.
