Twentynine Palms Sailors strengthen warrior ethos, increase lethality through Marine Corps Martial Arts Program

Sailors assigned to Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Twentynine Palms completed the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program Tan Belt course in December 2025 at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, building combat readiness, confidence and resilience under the instruction of Marine Staff Sgt. Joshua Hutchinson. Through physically demanding training that included strikes, grappling, weapon retention and pugil stick matches, participants strengthened interoperability with Marines while developing practical close-combat skills and a deeper understanding of the warrior ethos shared across the naval force. Sailors from multiple specialties—including corpsmen, a religious program specialist and a master-at-arms—said the training enhanced their ability to perform under stress, increased confidence in potentially hostile situations and reinforced the discipline and mindset required to provide war-ready medical care and support mission readiness.
