San Antonio ceremony honors legacy of the Weslaco 8

A plaque induction ceremony honoring the Weslaco 8 was held Feb. 21, 2026, on the rooftop of the former Military Entrance Processing Station building in San Antonio. The event brought together service members from all branches, senior military leaders, family members, and community supporters to honor eight Marines from Weslaco, Texas, whose service and sacrifice date back to World War II. The ceremony recognized historical research by a young historian, featured official declarations from the cities of San Antonio and Weslaco and the state of Texas, and designated a Weslaco 8 Remembrance Day. The event emphasized remembrance, shared military heritage, and the enduring legacy of those who served.
